Minimal Wave Speed of a Nonlocal Diffusive Epidemic Model with Temporal Delay
This note is concerned with a nonlocal version of the man-environment-man epidemic model in which the dispersion of infectious agents is assumed to follow a nonlocal diffusion law modeled by a convolution operator. The purpose of this note is to show that the minimal wave speeds of properly re-scaled nonlocal diffusion equations can approximate the corresponding one of the classical diffusion e...
متن کاملComputational Studies of Bacterial Colony Model
Microbiological experiments show that the colonies of the bacterium bacillus subtilis placed on a dish filled with an agar medium and nutrient form varied spatial patterns while the individual cells grow, reproduce and migrate on the dish in clumps. In this paper, we discuss a system of reaction-diffusion equations that can be used with a view to modelling this phenomenon and we solve it numeri...
متن کاملMinimal Wave Speed of Traveling Wavefronts in Delayed Belousov-Zhabotinskii Model
This paper is concerned with the traveling wavefronts of Belousov-Zhabotinskii model with time delay. By constructing upper and lower solutions and applying the theory of asymptotic spreading, the minimal wave speed is obtained under the weaker condition than that in the known results. Moreover, the strict monotonicity of any monotone traveling wavefronts is also established.
متن کاملInverse wave scattering with discontinuous wave speed
The inverse scattering problem on the line is studied for the generalized Schrodinger equation (d* f/V&*) + @H(X)* fi= Q(X) $, where H(x) is a positive, piecewise continuous function with positive limits H, as x --+ 2~. This equation, in the frequency domain, describes the wave propagation in a nonhomogeneous medium, where Q(X) is the restoring force and l/H(x) is the variable wave speed changi...
متن کاملMinimal Saturated Subgraphs of the Hypercube
Within the hypercube Qn, we investigate bounds on the saturation number of a forbidden graph G, defined as the minimum number of edges in a subgraph H of Qn that is both G-free and has the property that the addition of any e⋲ E(Qn) n E(H) creates G. For all graphs G, we find a lower bound based on the minimum degree of non-leaves. For upper bounds, we first examine general graphs and derive con...
